“Climate change is a global challenge. Climate observations are vital. The establishment of the observation station is very essential to monitor climate change at an extremely high altitude.” said Zhang Lei, a member of the “Earth summit mission 2022” expedition team.
On December 21, the 14th Green Book of Climate change, Annual Report on Actions to address climate change (2022) was released in Beijing. This book has conducted an in-depth analysis of new situation and issues in midst of international climate, and showcased China’s policies and actions to fulfill target peaking and neutralization objectives.
It is informed from National Meteorological Information Centre (NMIC) of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) that reconstruction dataset of monthly grid point global land temperature (1°*1°)and monthly grid point global surface temperature since 1850 has been mapped out and passed expert review, providing data products for evaluating global warming trends in a more science-based manner.
On December 13, the thirteenth Session of the Joint Working Group on cooperation in the field of meteorological science and technology between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) of Vietnam was held online. Both sides reviewed the implementation of bilateral cooperative projects since the JWG-12.
The Global Disastrous Weather Report in October 2022 (hereafter referred to as the Report) was released on November 14. According to the Report,in October 2022, the temperature in most parts of the Northern Hemisphere was higher than that in the same period of normal years. And many parts of Europe have experienced record-breaking daily maximum temperature in October.
From November 15 to 16 the local time, the 17th Group of 20 (G20) Summit was held in Bali, Indonesia. China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) of Indonesia cooperated on providing meteorological services.
From October 11 to 21, Chinese government’s expert team organized by the Ministry of Emergency Response went to Pakistan to conduct post-disaster assessment work after flooding. The expert team is composed of 11 experts from agencies of meteorology, hydrology, disaster relief, disaster condition assessment, flood prevention and control, etc.
